Thwaite Mills Stone Circle
In 1996 I was commissioned by Groundwork Leeds and Leeds City Council to carve eight standing stones in relief at Thwaite Mills Stourton. The stones form a circle and depict the times of the day and personifications of the four winds. The North wind (fierce and cold), The South wind (warm and gentle), The East wind (cold and dry) and The West wind (warm and wet) are all set to the cardinal points. The rest of the stones depict the times of the day showing dawn, midday, dusk and night.
