Had a great weekend demonstrating stone carving with Southern Stone at Art In Action, Waterperry near Oxford.
Pack Horse carved in relief from Yorkshire sandstone. Situated at the bottom of the pack horse trail near Marsden, as part of The Crossing The Pennines Heritage Trail.
St Marks Chapel at Wakefield Cathedral, such lovely surroundings in which to carve stone. And here are some of the wonderful relief carvings made by my students.
Red St Bees sandstone
Inspired by the bulbous sculptural form of the closed bud. This sculpture grows, developing in form from rectangular block at the base, upwards to the bulbed blend of the title, blurring the line at which plinth ends and sculpture begins.
