Yorkshire Stone with mosaic
Composed of curved lines fruiting a hybrid stone pod with mosaic seed. What will its progeny be?
DIMENSIONS with plinth- 1440mm x 600mm x 560mm.
The ellipse makes reference to the Luna cycle, the waning moon, and the undulating forms refer to the ribbed shapes left in the sand by an outgoing tide. Stone is a natural material, varied and individual, in this piece I have exploited a natural ‘flaw’ in the stone to create a two-tone texture to part of the sculpture, reminiscent of a luna landscape.
Another great workshop at Golcar Library carving waymarkers for Crossing The Pennines Heritage Trail. Don't miss the grand opening on the 4th of July at the Slaithwaite Community Centre. A big thank you to all who came to carve and the wonderful library staff.
